ANOTHER HERO - MARK IRVINE
Yesterday I saluted Karl Bromley for all his fantastic work.
Today I salute my comrade in arms MARK I. He is the only other member of the team that has been involved in the Glasgow fight from day one. We first met up in spring 2005 and agreed to work together as He was one of the few that also knew how the Glasgow women had been shafted by the unions and the employers post single status. And he was one of an even smaller group that, like me, wanted to do something about it.
Neither he nor I had any idea how long it was going to take. Time and again he’d say to me ‘one more year and then I’m done.’ That year would go and then we’d repeat the promise to no good effect.
Mark has been the man with the ideas and the connections. The Brains and the Brawn. An organiser par excellent. The only man the council hate more than me!
Mark, me and Karl. The Scotsman, the Englishman and the South African. Make up your own jokes. The odd couple/triple but Quite a formidable team don’t you think?
Mark and I share one other thing in common. Amazing, brilliant, strong and successful wives, Marion and Alison. They too have played hugely influential roles for which we are enormously grateful.
So raise a glass to Mark
And then another to Marion and Alison.
