HAVE WE JUMPED THE GUN ??

HAVE WE JUMPED THE GUN ??

NEW OFFER DATE (WE HOPE)
24TH MAY 2019 (to start arriving)
I don’t think people appreciate what a humongous logistical exercise is involved in getting these offers out all at the same time.
It would of course be possible to send offers out bit by bit but as we have seen this week, the degree of panic and anger that ensues when there’s even the slightest possibility of offers being delayed, means that we wanted to avoid this if at all possible. It’s impossible to entirely rule out because we also depend on the post office. As we all know First class post doesn’t always arrive next day.
Anyway, 15000 offer packs involves 10 documents each pack, many several pages long. All individualised. This has to be turned into data, sent to printers who then have to collate the data, print, put in envelopes and post. 500000 pages printed, collated and posted.
This is a difficult process. It was agreed at the claimant team meeting that , having disappointed you once by changing the date, we would not release the date UNTIL THE PRINTER CONFIRMED THE DELIVERY DATE.
THAT GREEN LIGHT HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN. IN FACT A RED LIGHT HAS BEEN SENT.
It is therefore enormously frustrating that one member of the claimant team has released the date before we got that green light. I have no idea why this was done. That team is relying on karl and our printers too.
Another member of the team has also issued an update, in less definite terms, saying that they are “aiming to start issuing” from this date. (This obviously means it might not now be this date, or not for all their members)
But the cat is out the bag so despite my reservations I can confirm that we HOPE to post the offers on Thursday 23rd May which would mean offer packs arriving from 24TH May.
However, this is sadly only a hope and is not certain. The printers have identified a data problem which may not be sorted until Monday. So we might indeed be jumping the gun.
So we now have an AIM, a HOPE and a promise. None of which we can confidently say we can deliver.
Not our finest hour, if I’m honest.
The good news is - HMRC is sorted. The actual offers have been received and they are going to be sent soon.
They won’t be sent before 23rd, but they might take a few days all to be sent from 23rd.
Please be patient - PLEASE DO NOT START RINGING THE OFFICE DEMANDING to know if YOUR offer has been sent. Reception staff will not know the answer. See my previous post.
Info on roadshows and drop in sessions to follow.
