STEADY AS SHE GOES
Well meeting 14 with the council was uneventful. This followed 3 sub group meetings last week. Karl Bromley is making good progress on the methodology group. I had a legal sub group and we discussed how to progress this. One problem is that due to holiday season it cannot meet again until 31st July. So the council have agreed to put forward written position papers on underlying issues such as pay protection and holiday pay.
The big problem is that we are still talking about process and not substance. I worry that the council officers are now appreciating how expensive the claims could be but are afraid to take decisions. But having committed to an end date to the timetable they now need to get down to nuts and bolts decisions. My impression is that this won’t happen until after the school holidays. We only have one more meeting this month and none in July. This doesn’t mean nothing is happening but it is still slow progress. Progress nonetheless.
By the next meeting we will have the councils position on NSWP and progress on methodology.
I did raise the Question of emergency payments not being made to Cordia staff. We will lodge new grievances and we’ve asked the council to reconsider its position as a goodwill gesture. If not yet more claims.
Sorry this update is a bit dull. But dull can be good. Sometimes.
